Dexter combines a compact downtown with neighborhoods that sit close to the Huron River and regional trail access. Lots can be tighter near the village core and more open toward Scio and Webster townships—so fence design often depends on setbacks, finished-side orientation, and how much privacy you want without blocking sightlines. Michigan Fence Repair installs and repairs fences throughout Dexter and the surrounding Washtenaw County area. We bring 20+ years of experience, drug- and alcohol-free crews, and a lifetime workmanship warranty. Free estimates are typically delivered within 24–48 hours.
Fence Services in Dexter
In Dexter we see a mix of ornamental aluminum and picket fencing near the front of homes, taller privacy fences in rear yards, wood fencing that benefits from wash-and-stain maintenance, and vinyl for homeowners who want less upkeep. Pool fencing, chain-link dog runs, gate repairs, and post replacements after freeze–thaw heaving are common requests. Tree and wind damage along wooded lots is another frequent call—we can often quote from clear photos and complete many repairs in a single working day. We also dig post holes for DIY builders, install railing, and handle mailbox installs or plow-related mailbox repairs.
Permits & Local Notes for Dexter
Dexter’s fence rules can be specific about finished sides, heights by yard location, and corner lots. Before you start:
- Confirm whether a fence permit is required and what documents they expect (many towns ask for a site plan and fence specs; some ask for a survey).
- Clarify front-yard height and style limits vs. side/rear privacy fencing.
- Ask how corner lots are treated—second “front” yards often have different height caps.
- Call 811 before digging.
City of Dexter Building Department (verify current rules):

Always verify current permit and ordinance requirements with the City of Dexter building department (or your township if you are outside city limits). Do not rely on old website summaries for legal disputes.
