Whitmore Lake is a lake-centered community between Ann Arbor and Brighton, largely within Northfield Township (Washtenaw County) with nearby Livingston County edges. Properties here include lakefront and near-lake homes, subdivision lots, and larger rural parcels—each with different fencing needs for privacy, pets, and wind exposure off the water. Michigan Fence Repair provides fence installation and repair throughout Whitmore Lake and Northfield Township. We are a local Livingston County–based contractor (Gregory address; no public showroom) offering free estimates usually within 24–48 hours, a lifetime workmanship warranty, and crews that are drug and alcohol free.
Fence Services in Whitmore Lake
Around Whitmore Lake we often install privacy fencing for backyard screening, ornamental front-yard fencing where shorter heights are expected, aluminum fencing for pools or open views, wood fencing for a classic look (with optional wash/stain maintenance), chain-link for practical containment, and farm fencing on larger acreage. Lake-area storms and falling trees make repair work common—posts, gates, rebuilds, and heaving posts from moisture and freeze–thaw cycles. We also help homeowners who need documentation for insurance claims after storm damage (general repair scope and photos; we do not interpret your policy). Mailbox installs and repairs matter here too after winter plow damage along main roads.
Permits & Local Notes for Whitmore Lake / Northfield Township
Whitmore Lake addresses are often governed by Northfield Township rules (not a separate city building department for every parcel). Before installing:
- Confirm your taxing/jurisdiction (Northfield Township vs. neighboring township/city)—do not assume “Whitmore Lake” mailing address means one set of rules.
- Ask about front-yard ornamental height limits, side-yard heights (especially lots facing a public street), visibility triangles near driveways/sidewalks, and post-depth expectations.
- Ask whether farmland or larger acreage has different permit exemptions—and still follow pedestrian visibility rules where they apply.
- Register as required if the township asks contractors to file paperwork with the permit.
- Call 811 before digging.
Northfield Township / Whitmore Lake area building contacts (verify current rules):

Verify permit applications, fees, and fence ordinance details with the Northfield Township building department (or whichever jurisdiction covers your parcel). Lake associations or subdivision covenants may add private rules on top of township zoning.
